As part of Lost Trotting Parks’ latest research initiative, we explore the life of Ashford Carr, the loggers at Pea Cove, and Baked Bean Suppers. Thanks to Peter Stowell, who is writing an Images of America Book on Old Town Lost Trotting Parks has been able to locate and research Old Town’s two trotting parks — one on Stillwater Avenue and the other at Pea Cove. The following storyboard is just the beginning. Working with descendants of Ashton Carr we are uncovering the stories of Ashford Park. With the descendants of Maybelle Webster Squiers we are uncovering the stories of Old Town’s Stillwater trotting park. Below you will see an aerial view of the Bennoch Road and Pea Cove — the location of Ashford Park.
